Group Policy Statement on Environmental Care

FNsteel produces steel billets through a blast furnace and BOF steel making process. In two mills (two production sites)  billets are rolled into wire rod for high-quality applications. Wire rod can be further processed resulting in wire rod in after-treated condition (pickled, annealed, drawn). In two production sites (PC-business units) wire rod can be drawn into in PC-wire and strand.

FNsteel aims at a, as best as possible, care for the environment in the defining and performing of its policy.

Starting points in this environmental policy are:

• promoting and maintaining such behaviour and working methods in order to prevent damage to the environment as much as possible
• conforming to the applicable legal regulations and rules
• continuous improvement of the performance on environmental care of the company.

FNsteel implements this environmental policy through a systematic approach of environmental care, meeting the requirements of the standard ISO 14001:2004.

The principle of ‘primary responsibility in the line’ and ‘general co-ordination by the appointed manager environmental care’ is applied.

Targets based on this policy are included in the company’s environmental plan (BMP), to be settled again and again for a four year period. In a yearly evaluation targets will be modified and actualised when necessary.

Each employee contributes to the execution of this policy in the capacity of his/her position, authority and responsibilities.
